resumes are as long as july is hot. joe torre, bobby cox and tony la russ russa will be ensliehrined in t hall of fame. they led their teams to 17 pennants and eight world series titles. torre won four of those championships with the new york yankees, including three straight from '98 through 2000. larussa won nearly as many games as he made calls to the bull pen, finishing his career third on the all time wins list. while cox only claims a single championship banner, he skippered the braves to 14 straight post season appearances. >>> the pop culture lead now. given the kind of weather most of us suffered through this weekend, it's no wonder a movie named "frozen" took top spot at the box office, hauling in more than $31 million in its second weekend. that was enough to dethrone the "hunger games" sequel which had been holding steady at number one for two weeks in a row. rounding out the top three, "out of the furnace" which didn't exactly heat things up. it earned a disappointing $5 million in its opening weekend. >>> remember the adam sandler classic "that's my boy"? a pithy examination

part of your career, i love studying politicians, you lost that race in the south side to bobby rush and you got in your car and drove out into the burbs and you said, i'm going to do this thing. how many kids here want to go into politics? >> that's a pretty good number. >> are they right? >> it continues to be a way to serve that i think can be noble. it's hard. it can be frustrating. you've got to have a thick skin. and i know it's tempting to say, you know what, why would i want to get in the mud like that and get slapped around and subjected to all kinds of scrutiny and so for those people who say i'd rather serve in other ways, through nonprofits or through starting a great business and work with people who are completely on my side all the time instead of trying to undermine what i'm trying to get done, i understand that. and god bless you. that's part of what makes this court great. we're not completely government centered. we've got all kinds of folks who are doing great stuff all around the country. but i tell you, the satisfaction you get when you've passed a law or taken

a family of 30 brands. one of the most well known is estee but donna karan, mac, bobby brown, clinique. the consumer likes to buy multiple brands. i'm sure kelly has a whole drawer, and your wife, too, a whole drawer of products she's partially used and try again. we try to use the credibility of our brands to bring consumers to the counter. we show you what she thinks she wants but those things she didn't knew she wanted. we try to make sure we're prepared for her desire to buy gifts, for others and perhaps for herself. as we get closer and closer to the christmas period the consumer gets a little more desperate, a little more anxious. what have you got? we make sure we have prepared gifts as well as wrapping things for them right then and there. >> the first point about price points because this reveals what's happening in this country more broadly. pp when i think of cosmetics, it's mac cosmetics. to me, if you're spending $30 on a lipstick or blush or single items, that adds up quickly to the hundreds of dollars. sad but true. it's affordable to say, a pair of

bobby was an enlisted man teenager. he had that credibility to make that charge. we're going to where kennedy gave his great american university speech. i'll allude to that. kennedy gave this great speech there the peace speech. but he said something i remembered ever since i read it. problems of man are manmade. they can be solved by man. in the past man has solved the seemingly unsolvable. he can do it again. that sense of national confidence that we can solve our problems especially the ones we create can we bring it back. i think that's what the country want back. they want trust. there's a lot of trust problems out there because promises were made for health care. that's a trust problem he has to deal with. i think he's also a very difficult opposition out there of people on the other side not boehner but people behind him that boehner has to deal with who from the very beginning wanted to destroy this presidency. some is just good old ideology. the way they treated this guy is unusual in our history. that ought to be pointed out. maybe tonight is not the night to do it. >> i wou

a national set of strategic goals, this one. >> bobby jindal asked me to go out to the republican governor's association. went out. talked to a couple of panels. had dinner there. i was stunned. i was stunned that these republican governors were all talking solutions. i'm sure democratic governors are doing the same thing. haley said we can't afford to shut down the government. i was blown away by how positive and forward thinking they were. how they worked with democrats because they had to work with democrats. man, talk about being a governor and then being a senator and is it getting any better? >> well, it's hard to compare any job to governor. that's one of the better jobs in the country. jon and i became very close friends working through the national governor's association. it wasn't a republican or democrat problem. we found somebody that had a fix whether it's education, highways, helping the elderly or veterans. we would call each other and said how did do you that. he would say try this. we're missing that. it's difficult. it's so highly charged from the standpoint of, there's s
